FAQs

We pride ourselves in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere and want to ensure that your physical therapy experience is a positive one.  Below we have answered some questions on what to expect; if you should have more specific questions, just ask when you call to schedule your appointment.

Physical therapy is a method of treatment for certain physical impairments, disabilities, and injuries. You can expect a thorough evaluation by a physical therapist who will create a plan of treatment for your specific diagnosis.

Physical therapists (PTs) are highly-educated, licensed health care professionals who may help patients reduce pain, and improve or re-store mobility, in many cases without expensive surgery which often reduces the need for use of prescription medications.  In addition, PTs work with individuals to develop fitness and wellness programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

Frequency of attendance is dependent upon your diagnosis and your physician’s recommendation.  A typical plan of care for physical therapy includes attendance three times per week.

Appointments for physical therapy vary in length depending on your diagnosis and activity level.  On average, a patient’s first visit lasts about an hour.  For the initial visit, we typically ask patients to arrive 15 minutes early to sign-in, complete paperwork and/or change clothes.

We recommend that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes—something you can exercise in. Sneakers are preferred in our gyms.

During your first visit, your physical therapist will perform an initial evaluation and discuss your plan of care. The therapist uses this information to set goals for your continued treatment.  Your treatment may include exercise; manual therapy (a hands-on technique used to decrease pain and increase range of motion); modalities such as electrical stimulation, moist heat, or ice; and patient education, including a home exercise program.  It is at this first visit that the frequency and duration of subsequent appointments will be determined.

We work with most major insurance providers, and we do our best to help you keep the paperwork pain-free.  If you’d like to confirm your insurance coverage, please let us know and we can verify when you schedule.

If your insurance provider requires a co-pay, we will ask for this payment at each visit. We accept payments by cash, check or credit card.

On your first visit, you’ll need to bring your physician referral or prescription (if needed), your insurance card, your primary registration forms, your ID or driver’s license and your co-payment (as applicable). If desired, you may bring a change of clothing.

We do not have interpreters on our staff; however, we are happy to provide you with an interpreter should you need their services. If you need an interpreter for your appointments, please let our staff know ahead of time so that we can find the appropriate interpreter to be available for your appointments. We will cover any costs related to interpreter services.
